Video: York Resurrection, Three Maries and the Angel (Quem Quaeritis)

After the burial of Christ, the Three Maries go to his tomb very early in the morning to anoint his body. They find the tomb empty and an Angel sitting on it tells them that Christ has risen from the dead. The York pageant incorporates a translation from the liturgical play known as Quem Quaeritis, ‘Whom are you seeking?¹. Performed at Lancaster, Cartmel, Carlisle, Durham, and at York on the original pageant route
in the Festival of 1992. This station is in York's Stonegate (sun in the wrong direction for filming). |
